Rocca Guicciarda is one of Barone Ricasoli’s most storied vineyards. What we love about this wine is that it is so classic (fresh, sappy, graphitey) yet contemporary in the best sense (clean, pure, textured). From a very classy vintage in Tuscany, the 2010 Rocca Guicciarda was raised for 15 months in a mixture of French barriques and Slovenian tonneaux. It’s a first-rate example; silky and sweet with subtle oak and notes of dried tea, raspberry and cherry-pit outlined by fine, polished tannins. The finish goes long on lingering flavours of mineral and tobacco. Francesco Ricasoli is obsessed with producing an outstanding Riserva style under this label. This wine delivers just that at a great price.
